About Us

William Miller - is a professional Hoof trimmer, Lameness Specialist and Equine Podiatrist who has worked on many horses with Acute and Chronic lameness issues and has been involved with many laminitic horses * .

He is now resident in Central Otago in Lake Wanaka and has many clients who have horses in all degrees of work, doing well under  a regualre barefoot trimming regime.

Rosa Stackhouse-Miller (certified  AANHCP) is also a professional hoof trimmer  and together with William  have been travelling and  working together since 2001,  teaching the "3 steps to Soundness"  to vets, farriers and individual horse owners in New Zealand , Australia, Italy and Dubai.

Individual One-on-One teaching is also an important part of the business as some clients prefer to learn at their own pace in their own environment.

*NB Laminitis is a disease that is still not widely understood and can be deadly and silent  but the current belief is that it is can be feed related and  affects horses that are susceptible to insulin resistance ( Dr Chris Pollitt DVM)

Our journey started in 2001 when we attended our first hoof trimming clinic with Paul Chapman in New Zealand. After traveling with Paul for 5 weeks and assisting with his clinics, Will and Rosa studied the Strasser basic and advanced trim in New Zealand with Todd Merrill and also followed Jaime Jackson's style of trimming, but found that the "Strasser" trim was too invasive and required too much rehabilitation and constant care.

Since then we have found a way to trim horses that are both sound and unsound and has now found their own style that suits the conditions of Australia and New Zealand. We consider ourselves students for the rest of this journey/life and use all information available. I (Rosa) am currently in the process of training under the AANHCP asnd i in cluster clinics in the USA even as I type. We acknowledge the work of those before us, Marjorie Smith, Jaime Jackson, Paul Chapman, Dr Strasser DVM, Carlo Failacci of Italy and the many people out there now doing their best to change the tide of public opinion and realise that 100% of horses can go barefoot , not many owners can! We are on a journey to rehabilitate the owners of horses to recognise this opportunity to help their friends.
We have now trimmed over 10000 different horses' hooves at the many clinics we hold around New Zealand and Australia, and see many interesting cases. We are now currently living in Dubai and using the name BRAVE HORSE so as not to cause any offence.

Dearest Creator in Heaven

Give me strength to guide my horse. Make my hands soft & my head clear. Let my horse understand me & I him. My heart you have blessed with a special love of these animals, let me never loose sight of it.

My soul you have gifted with a deep need for them, let that need never lessen. Always let my breath catch as the sun gleams on elegant head.

Always may my throat tighten at the sound of gentle nicker. Let the scent of fresh hay & a new bag of grain be sweet to me. Let the warm touch of a warm nose on my hand always bring a smile.

I adore the joy of a warm day on the farm, the grace & splendor of a running horse.
The thunder of its hooves makes my eyes burn & my heart soar, let it always be so.

Dearest Creator grant me patience, for horses are harnessed wind & wind can be flighty.

Let me not frighten or harm them, instead show me ways to understand them.

Above all, dear Creator, fill my life with them. When I pass from this world, send my soul to no heaven without them.

For this love you have given me, graces my existence. I shall cherish it & praise you for it for all time.
